Moving Into a New Neighborhood

So, the movers have finally delivered your belongings to your new home, and it's time to get accustomed to your new surroundings. The first order of business is finding a grocery store.

This guide will give you all the information that you need on neighborhood staples like grocery stores, post offices, libraries, schools and playgrounds. You'll also find out about local hotspots like gyms and restaurants where you can get some exercise or indulge in a delicious meal!

1) Look in the phone book for your neighborhood and town.

You might need to look up your address in the white pages of a phone book, and include the area that you're looking for. You may not find everything you need in one place, but it's important to have multiple resources so that you get all the information that you need.

2) Research nearby grocery stores online  or by calling them.

You can search for local grocery stores by hitting Google or Yahoo or Bing with keywords like "Groceries" or "Grocery Stores". This will give you results from websites of local businesses in your area.

You can also search for the phone number of a store and give them a call. When you call, someone will be able to tell you all the important details about the grocery store like how far it is from your house and if they deliver, and what their hours are.

3) Find a nearby post office.

Depending on where you live, you might need to rely on your local post office for basic mail services like check cashing or paying bills. Finding one nearby is important so that you can stay up-to-date on everything that's happening in your household!

You can find the phone number of your local post office online with keywords like "USPS" or "Post Offices". Again, you can call the local post office's phone number to find out how far it is from your house.

4) Find a nearby library.

A public library can be a great resource to help your kids with their home work and reading projects. Finding one nearby is important because you will want to continue to be able to use these resources and for the little ones, it's important that they feel like they belong wherever you are!  You can find libraries in your area by looking up keywords such as "Library" or "Libraries".

5) Find more places of interest and make new friends.

If you happen to live in a large city, you can find plenty of places to go. One of the most popular places for young people is the gym. If you're interested in hitting the gym, you should look up "gyms" or "gymnasiums" in your area to find one near your home. You can also search for other things like restaurants and parks so that you have places that you can visit with your friends.
